Industrial Challenge Competition
What Is This Competition?
This is a competition where participants solve real industrial problems. The challenges come from one of our industrial partners. You can participate alone or as a team. You do not need to be a speaker at MOTOR 2026 conference to take part.
The competition has two rounds. The best solutions from the first round move on to the second round.
How to Apply (Deadline: May 25, 2026)
- Find a challenge. The list of challenges is available on the conference website below
- Write a proposal. Your proposal must address one specific challenge from the list. It should be 1–2 pages (A4 format) and include either:
- A theoretical analysis of the problem, and/or
- An algorithmic solution to the problem.
- Submit your proposal by email to jkochet@math.nsc.ru no later than May 25, 2026.
- Teams must have one designated team leader who submits all materials on behalf of the team.
- Each participant may submit at most one proposal per challenge but may submit proposals for multiple challenges.
Round 1 (Online: June1, 2026)
- All submitted proposals will be reviewed by the Technical Committee before the online session.
- All participants will present their proposals online on June 1, 2026. Each presentation is 15 minutes long.
- The Technical Committee will evaluate proposals based on four criteria: theoretical soundness, creativity, practicality, and potential impact.
- The committee will select up to 8 top proposals across all challenges.
- Results and awards will be announced on June 5, 2026.
- The total prize pool for Round 1 is 1,200,000 rubles, distributed among the selected proposals.
Round 2 (In-person at MOTOR 2026)
- Round 1 winners are invited to continue developing their solutions.
- Participants must prepare a more detailed proposal that includes preliminary computational results.
- These proposals will be presented in person at the MOTOR 2026 conference.
- The Technical Committee will select the top 2 proposals from Round 2.
- The total prize pool for Round 2 is 1,000,000 rubles, distributed among the final winners.
Rule Changes
Because this competition involves research, some aspects, such as task feasibility or timelines, may need to change as work progresses. The organizers reserve the right to modify the rules at any time. All changes will be announced promptly, and all participants will be notified directly.
New challenges may also be added to the list in the coming weeks. Check the website regularly for updates.
